Man for court over RUC murder

A man has been charged with offences linked to the murder of an RUC officer almost 20 years ago.

A man has been charged with offences linked to the murder of an RUC officer almost 20 years ago.

Constable Michael Ferguson was shot dead while on duty in Derry in January 1993.

He was 21 years old.

The PSNI said the accused (39) had been charged with four offences relating to terrorism, including offences linked to the murder of Constable Ferguson.

He will appear at Derry Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

Constable Ferguson, a Catholic from Omagh, was shot twice in the head outside Richmond Shopping Centre in the city.

No-one has ever been convicted of his murder.
