A 28-year-old man is due to appear before a Belfast court today on charges relating to dissident republican terrorist activity.

The north Belfast man was arrested by officers in north Belfast on Thursday night and charged last night.

Police subsequently recovered four timer power units, of similar type to those used in past explosive attacks.

He was on foot in Dawson Street near the Antrim Road when he was detained.

He has been charged with possession of articles likely to be of use to terrorists and preparing for an act of terrorism.

The Antrim Road was sealed off for a period last night as the timer devices were examined.
