Man for court over grow houses

A man is to appear in court today charged in connection with the discovery of cannabis grow houses earlier this week.

A man is to appear in court today charged in connection with the discovery of cannabis grow houses earlier this week.

The 29-year-old will be charged before a sitting of Drogheda District Court in connection with Operation Nitrogen.

During raids on Tuesday, gardaí discovered four industrial-style cannabis grow houses in counties Kildare, Mayo, Louth and Waterford.

The raid was the latest under Operation Nitrogen, which was set up to investigate all aspects of cannabis cultivation.

Gardaí searched industrial units in Buncrana, Swinford, Ardee, Newbridge, Tramore, and at Gardiner Street, Clondalkin and Blanchardstown in Dublin.

More than 6,000 cannabis plants with an estimated street value of up to €5 million were found.
