Man for court over garda death

An 18-year-old man is due in court today in connection with the death of a garda in Co Donegal earlier this year.

An 18-year-old man is due in court today in connection with the death of a garda in Co Donegal earlier this year.

Garda Robbie McCallion (29) died at Beaumont Hospital, Dublin, from Swinford, Co Mayo, was on duty in Letterkenny in the early hours of March 26th when he went to investigate a suspicious car.

When the occupants of the car saw garda McCallion getting out of his own vehicle and walking towards them they tried to speed off. In the process they rammed him into a wall.

The man who was arrested this morning is to appear in Glenties District Court.
