A man is due appear in Ennis District Court tomorrow morning in connection with the violent death of Co Clare woman Deirdre McCarthy.

The body of 43-year-old guesthouse worker was found washed up on a beach last week.

The 39-year-old man was charged by gardaí at Ennis Garda Station tonight where he had been questioned since Tuesday.

Ms McCarthy's body was found washed up at Fanore beach in Co Clare last Thursday morning, three days after she was reported missing from her Ballyvaughan home.

She was last seen alive on Sunday night, March 27th and the alarm was raised on Monday afternoon. Dozens of locals assisted in a search of the coastline and lands around Ballyvaughan.
