A 27-year-old man is expected to appear at Gorey District Court, in Co Wexford, this morning, charged in relation to the seizure of drugs with an estimated street value of €8 million at Rosslare Port on Monday.
A 20-year-female, who was also detained, has been released without charge.
Over 1,145kg of cannabis was found by Customs officials when they stopped a 12.2m (40ft) container lorry as it drove off a ship that arrived from Cherbourg, France.
The consignment, which was marked "footwear", had been hidden alongside regular cargo that is understood to have originated in Spain.
