Man due in Belfast court on terror charges

A man will appear in court later today on terrorism charges after police in Northern Ireland seized nearly £70,000 in cash.

The suspect, aged 41, was arrested during searches in Coalisland, Co Tyrone. Organised Crime Branch detectives found the money and some guns in the raids on Thursday,

After he was questioned at a holding centre in Antrim, the man was charged with possession of money or property for the purposes of terrorism and concealing criminal property under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

He will appear at a special sitting of Dungannon Court.

Police said the money has also been the subject of a detention application in Court under the same Act. A spokeswoman confirmed they would be holding it whilst further enquiries are carried out.
