Man due for court over fatal stabbing in refugee centre

A 21-year-old man is due before a special sitting of Limerick District Court at 7pm in connection with the death of a male teenager (17) who was fatally stabbed in a refugee centre in the city yesterday.

The incident took place at a refugee centre on Sarsfield Street. The injured youth was taken to the Mid-West Regional Hospital after the stabbing where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

A 21-year-old man was arrested shortly after the incident and taken to Henry Street Garda Station for questioning.
