Gardaí in Waterford are investigating the death of a man (59) who died while in Garda custody on Saturday.
The man was arrested in Waterford city on Saturday under the Criminal Justice ( Public Order ) Act, 1994.
He was taken to Waterford Garda station where he became unwell.
The man was removed to Waterford General Hospital where he later pronounced dead.
A Garda Superintendent from outside the Garda Division has been appointed to investigate the man's death.
