An investigation is underway into the death of a 38-year-old man in Garda custody in Co Galway.
The man was being held in Tuam Garda station after he was arrested on suspected public order offences last night.
He was found unconscious in a holding cell at the station in the early hours of this morning. A number of attempts were made to revive him but he was pronounced dead shortly after at 4.30am
Officials from the Garda Ombudsman's office have arrived in Tuam to investigate his death. A postmortem examination is scheduled to be carried out later today.
