A man in his 80s has died following a fatal house fire in Cork City last night.
The fire broke out shortly after 11pm in the Churchfield Hill area of the city. The man was taken to Mercy hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
A Garda spokeswoman said the man was alone at the time and no one else was injured.
The house has been sealed off pending a technical investigation.
