A middle-aged man died in a house fire in Co Tipperary early today.

A middle-aged man died in a house fire in Co Tipperary early today.

The blaze was reported in Morton Street, Clonmel, at around 3am. Gardai said the 51-year-old man was taken from the house to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

There was nobody else in the property at the time and a Garda spokesman said the fire is not being treated as suspicious.

It came just 24 hours after a man in his 30s died in a caravan fire in Co Kerry. The blaze was spotted in the mobile home near Sneem at around 4.30am yesterday.

Gardai said they are treating it as accidental.
