A man suffered 35 per cent burns to his body when he sat in a scalding bath, an inquest at Dublin City Coroner's Court heard yesterday. Mr James (Shay) Cullen (53), from St Patrick's Crescent, Dun Laoghaire, suffered the burns at the home of a friend at Dunedin Drive, Monkstown, on March 18th last. He died in hospital of septicaemia related to the injuries on April 27th.

Mr Cullen had been drinking wine and also visited a pub before the incident, the inquest heard. A verdict of accidental death was recorded.
