A Derry man yesterday denied subjecting a schoolboy to a sex ordeal in Belfast Crown Court

A Derry man yesterday denied subjecting a schoolboy to a sex ordeal in Belfast Crown Court. Mr Joseph Gerard Lewis (49) from the Creggan, said the boy had accused him of abuse to get compensation.

The schoolboy, who cannot be named to protect his identity, claims Mr Lewis indecently assaulted him and sexually abused him in front of two others at the home of Mr Lewis's former wife. Yesterday Mr Lewis said the boy had called to the house once while he was on his way out and to his knowledge he was never inside.

Mr Lewis admitted knowing his co accused, David John Harkin (21), also of Derry Road, who has admitted indecently assaulting the boy and another youth.
