Mr Christopher David Hughes (27), an unemployed labourer, of Trasna Way, Lurgan, Co Armagh, was charged at a special court in Craigavon yesterday with belonging to, or professing to belong to, the Ulster Volunteer Force, a proscribed organisation.
An RUC detective told the court that, when charged, Mr Hughes replied: "Not guilty." He was remanded in custody.
