A man in his early 20s is in a critical condition in hospital following an assault in Limerick city early this morning.
The incident happened at the Bank Place area of Limerick at 2.30am.
The injured man was taken to Midwest Regional Hospital Limerick where his condition is described as critical.
Investigations are underway but so far no one has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to contact them at Henry Street Garda station on 061 212400.
