Man charged over wife's death

A man has appeared in court charged in connection with the death of his wife in Dublin last year.

A man has appeared in court charged in connection with the death of his wife in Dublin last year.

Thomas Breen (61) of Willow Vale, Ballybrack, was before Dun Laoghaire District Court charged with the manslaughter of Carmel Breen (57).

Ms Breen was found dead at the house in Ballybrack at about 7.30pm on November 7th last year after gardaí had been alerted to a disturbance. She was examined at the scene by a doctor and pronounced dead.

A postmortem revealed she had been strangled.

Mr Breen was remanded on bail of €5,000 to July 21st and ordered to surrender his passport.
