Man charged over NI hospital attack

A man was charged with attempted murder today after allegedly trying to kill a patient in a Belfast hospital.

A man was charged with attempted murder today after allegedly trying to kill a patient in a Belfast hospital.

The man (59) is alleged by police to have walked into the Royal Victoria Hospital in the city yesterday and attempted to suffocate a man - said to be a friend - being treated after suffering a stroke.

A police spokeswoman said the accused man was arrested at the hospital .

He will appear before Belfast Magistrates Court later.
