Man charged over Galway murder

A man has been remanded in custody charged with the murder of a Galway supermarket worker last month.

A man has been remanded in custody charged with the murder of a Galway supermarket worker last month.

Alexsander Nadwodny (27) ,  Polish national of no fixed abode, appeared in Galway District Court this morning charged with murdering Kieran Cunningham (20) at Williamsgate Street, Galway, on June 3rd last.

Mr Cunningham, who was from Claregalway, was stabbed a number of times after leaving a nightclub near Eyre Square. He later died in University College Hospital, Galway.

Mr Nadwodny was arrested in Dublin on Monday night and taken to Mill Street Garda station in Galway where he was charged with murder last night.

Superintendent Tom Curley applied to have the  accused remanded in custody.

Judge Mary Fahy remanded Mr Nadwodny to appear again at Galway District Court next Tuesday.
