A man (19) has been remanded in custody charged with assault causing harm in connection with the death of a father-of-two in Drogheda yesterday morning.

Keith Cunningham (19) of Halpin's Terrace, Drogheda appeared before a special sitting of Drogheda District Court this afternoon.

He was charged with assaulting Desmond Kimmins (41) from Ballsgrove, Drogheda, causing him harm at Rathmullen Park on December 30 th, 2007.

The court heard that Mr Cunningham said he had "no comment" when charged.

The court was told there was a probability of more serious charges being preferred in the case following the consideration by the Director of Public Prosecutions of a file on the matter.

There was no application for bail.

Judge Flann Brennan remanded Mr Cunnigham in custody and adjourned the case until Friday.
