A 67 year old Leixlip man has been arrested after failing to appear in court on October 27th last to answer charges of raping a 13 year old girl. The man faces 16 charges of raping and sexually assaulting the girl in his home between December 1993 and October 1994.
He told Kilmainham District Court yesterday that he was "terminally ill with lung cancer" and spent most of his time in bed.
Judge Gillian Hussey remanded him in custody to January 25th, but set cash bail at £250.
