The bodies of a man and a woman have been found in house in O’Malley Park in the Southill area of Limerick city.
It is believed the pair, who are in their 20s, had been shot.
Gardaí were alerted to the scene at about 10.30am.
The woman was found in an upstairs bedroom while the man was discovered downstairs near the back door.
Gardaí have appealed for anyone with information about the deaths to contact them.
The scene has been preserved for a technical examination.
The office of the State Pathologist has been notified.
