The man charged with the murder of Carl and Catherine Doyle was remanded in custody for a further two weeks when he appeared before Galway District Court yesterday.

Mr Mark Nash (24), with an address at Clonliffe Road, Dublin 3, was remanded in custody to appear before Bridewell Court number four in Dublin on September 1st next.

Insp Stiofan O Cualain applied for the remand in custody during a two-minute hearing before Judge Joseph Mangan. The defending solicitor, Mr Peter Allen, made no objection.

Mr Nash, from Leeds, was also charged with causing grievous bodily harm to Ms Sarah Jane Doyle, the dead woman's sister, at Ballintubber early on Saturday morning.

Mr Nash kept his head down, staring at the floor, for the duration of the hearing.
