A 63-YEAR-OLD man has died following an accident at a building site in Monaghan town

A 63-YEAR-OLD man has died following an accident at a building site in Monaghan town. The man, whose name has not yet been released, is believed to have been a middle manager at the construction site for a new Vocational Education Committee campus at the Armagh Road in the town.

The accident happened at about 11.40am yesterday and the man was pronounced dead at the scene. His remains have been removed to the morgue at Navan General Hospital.

The Health and Safety Authority and An Garda Síochána have begun an investigation.

A spokesman for the main contractors on the project, John Sisk and Son, said: “We want to express our deep sympathy with the family, friends and colleagues of the man who died.”
