Man (36) dies in Westmeath crash

A man (36) has died after a car crash in Co Westmeath in the early hours of this morning.

A man (36) has died after a car crash in Co Westmeath in the early hours of this morning.

The man was travelling in a car which left the road and crashed into a pole on the Mullingar to Ballynacarrigy Road at Muleady's Cross at about 1.30am.

He died at the scene and his body was removed to the Midlands Regional Hospital at Mullingar.

Two other men who were also in the car were also taken to the hospital, where one of them is described as being in a serious condition.

The road is currently closed and diversions are in place pending an examination by the gardaí.
