A man suffered serious head injuries after being attacked by a gang of four men in Derry.

A man suffered serious head injuries after being attacked by a gang of four men in Derry.

The victim (20) was transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast following the Saturday morning assault at Carnhill.

A woman was also punched in the face.

Meanwhile, a 24-year-old man was treated in hospital for facial injuries following an altercation in the Whiterock Drive area of north Belfast.

He was attacked at about 3.30am on Saturday and a man aged 27 was arrested. Police believe several people were nearby at the time and are appealing for any witnesses to either incident to come forward.
