POLICE LAUNCHED a murder inquiry yesterday after a man died following a stabbing incident that took place in Lisburn at the weekend.

The victim, Darren Roberts, aged 20, from Lisburn, was stabbed during an incident at Milbrook Road in the city about 2am on Saturday, according to the PSNI.

He was rushed to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast in critical condition and received emergency treatment. Despite intensive efforts by doctors, however, his condition deteriorated and he died at about 5pm on Saturday.

An 18-year-old man was also stabbed in the incident. His injuries are understood not to be life-threatening.

Three men, aged 23, 21 and 20, were arrested in connection with the attack. The PSNI has appealed for anyone who may have been in the area about the time of the attack and who could help with their inquiries to come forward.
