ROME Mr Antonio di Pietro, the magistrate who helped topple Italy's old guard, has been thrust into the centre of a new storm over reports that he once had a detailed plan to revolutionise Italian politics.
According to the Milan newspaper Il Giornale, Mr di Pietro said he had planned to try to get himself made Italian secret service chief and follow up by seeking a total overhaul of Italian politics involving new laws and new party groupings.
