W.S. Atkins Consultants have been appointed to carry out an independent study to assess the option of putting the Dublin Light Rail System (Luas) underground in the city centre.

Announcing the appointment yesterday of the international consultants, the Minister for Public Enterprise, Mrs O'Rourke, said the study would take six months to complete and work on it would start immediately.
