Loyalists are believed to have been responsible for a series of "punishment" attacks across the North. A 27-year-old man was shot in the leg in east Belfast by three masked men.

In another incident, a woman was beaten by three masked men who broke into her house in north Belfast on Thursday night and failed to find her son. A 31-year-old man is recovering after he was beaten by a group of masked men with a sledgehammer and an iron bar in Rostrevor, Co Down.
