THE RUC in Derry believes that loyalist paramilitaries were responsible for a gun attack in the city just before midnight on Thursday in which a 23 year old man was shot several times in the leg. A masked gang carried out the attack in the victim's home at Lincoln Court, in the Waterside area of the city.

The injured man was said yesterday to be "ill but stable" in hospital.
