Potential for trouble was averted in the predominantly nationalist town of Pomeroy, Co Tyrone, last night after loyalist bandsmen cancelled a planned parade through the town. The bandsmen said they cancelled the march in the interests of community relations but reserved the right to parade on a future date. Local nationalists opposed the march.
