A 51-year-old man with an address in Co Louth has been charged with the murder of a member of the Ulster Defence Regiment (UDR) more than 27 years ago.

Corporal Robert Thomas Moffett was killed in Killucan, Cookstown, Co Tyrone on March 3rd, 1974.

The man is expected to appear in court tomorrow in Cookstown in connection with the offence, an RUC spokesman said.
