Loath County Council says that it will know the outcome later this week of tests on a jelly like substance which fishermen say has been catching in their nets. The substance has been found along the coast from Clogherhead to Laytown and fishermen on the Boyne complained about it to the Eastern Regional Fisheries Board.

A council engineer said that the substance appeared to be a biological gel. Samples have been sent to the Environmental Protection Agency for testing.
