A 48-hour search for a 6 ft ostrich ended happily yesterday when it was found in a ditch. The bird had walked to a spot some fields away from the farm at Moy Road, outside Portadown, where it was kept as a pet and used for breeding. It is thought the violent thunderstorm early on Monday morning had caused the bird to break free. It was found hungry and bruised but well.
