Longford Town have been relegated from the League of Ireland Premier Division despite beating Derry City 3-1 at home.

Dave Mooney, the league's top scorer, bagged a hat-trick but it wasn't enough to save the FAI Cup finalists.

Longford had to win and hope Waterford United lost on the road to Shamrock Rovers.  However, Waterford gained a point from their scoreless draw to confirm Longford's fate.

Bohemians beat Cork City 1-0 courtesy of a Sean Kelly own goal to secure third spot while champions Drogheda finished their memorable campaign by securing a point away to St Patrick's Athletic.

Results:

Bray 2-1 Sligo Cork 0-1 Bohemians Galway 2-1 UCD Longford 3-1 Derry St Patrick's 0-0 Drogheda Shamrock Rovers 0-0 Waterford
