Edinburgh - A Scottish judge ruled yesterday that British and US broadcasters could not broadcast the Lockerbie airliner bombing trial, scheduled to begin on May 3rd. The reason for the ruling by Lord MacFadyen was not immediately available.
Two Libyans, Abdel Basset al-Megrahi and Al-Amin Khalifa Fahima, are accused of blowing up PanAm Flight 103 in December 1988 over the Scottish town of Lockerbie and killing 270 people.
The alleged former intelligence agents will face a Scottish court of three judges sitting in a neutral country, the Netherlands, under a compromise deal brokered last year between the US, Britain and Libya.
