St Therese of Lisieux, the centenary of whose death takes place on September 30th, is to be made a Doctor of the Catholic Church.

Known popularly as "the Little Flower", she will join an elite group of just 33 saints who have been proclaimed "Doctor" in the Catholic Church's 2,000year history. The proclamation will be made by Pope John Paul on October 19th, Mission Sunday, at a special ceremony in St Peter's in Rome.
