The British and Irish Lions will tackle Argentina at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium next year as a warm-up for their tour of New Zealand.
The state-of-the-art Welsh stadium beat off a rival bid from Twickenham, the home of English rugby. The first-ever clash between the Lions touring side and the Pumas is set for May 23rd next year and will be a much-needed boost to the Welsh Rugby Union's finances.
A full house could earn the WRU £400,000 pounds. The Millennium Stadium will also host this season's football FA Cup semi-finals and final, it was announced last week.
The last time the Lions played in Cardiff was in 1986, when they lost 15-7 to a Rest of the World XV in a match celebrating the International Rugby Board's centenary.
The Lions will leave for New Zealand soon after the match, with their first match on Kiwi soil on June 4th against Bay of Plenty.
