The head of the Limerick Garda Division is to retire before the end of the year.

Chief Supt Gerry Mahon is to step down on December 7th next, just over a year after he took over the post from Willie Keane, who was promoted to Assistant Garda Commissioner.

Chief Supt Mahon is the latest senior garda in Limerick to announce his retirement recently, which has raised concerns on future policing in the city and county.
