MIAMI - Hurricane Lili grew in strength as it swirled in the open Atlantic yesterday and forecasters said it could bring heavy winds and rains to Europe within four or five days.

At 4 p.m. Irish time, the hurricane's centre was near latitude 34.2 north and longitude 51.0 west, or about 1,265 miles west southwest of the Azores, and moving east northeast at about 7 mph the US National Hurricane Centre said. That motion is expected to continue through today, it added.
