Licensing of new cars down last month

The number of new cars licensed last month was down 8.3 per cent at 24,290, compared with the same month in 2007.

So far this year 57,251 new cars were licensed, an increase of 2.6 per cent for the corresponding period in 2007, according to data released today by the Central Statistics Office.

The number of new goods vehicles licensed in February 2008 was 5,181, a fall of 7.1 per cent.
