The Bar Council has welcomed the setting up of an advisory group to review and recommend changes to criminal law and procedures on an ongoing basis.
Mr James Nugent SC, chairman, said many of the laws and procedures in the criminal justice system dated from the last century and any steps towards their modernisation would have the full support of the Bar.
