TOKYO - Masao Maruyama, Japan's leading post war political scientist whose anti establishment works greatly shaped studies of Japanese politics and thought, has died aged 82. Among Maruyama's best known works is his 1946 treatise The Logic and Psychology of Ultranationalism, which courted taboo in examining the psychological underpinnings of the pre war emperor system.
