TESTS BY Clare County Council have found elevated levels of lead at four locations across the county.

According to a council statement last night, elevated levels of lead were found in water supplies that have lead service pipes in Church View in Sixmilebridge, Patrick Street in Clarecastle and two housing estates in Ennis: Marian Avenue and Connolly Villas.

The council estimates that approximately 150 premises at the four locations are potentially affected.

Director of service with the council David Timlin said: "The risk relates specifically to premises which were constructed before the early 1960s and have not been renovated since and continue to have lead services.
