Laser shoots down rocket

WASHINGTON - For the first time ever, a laser destroyed, a fully loaded short range rocket in flight yesterday, during a test carried out at a base in New Mexico as part of a joint US Israeli program, the US army said. The test was significant because short range rockets have become the weapon of choice for terrorist groups, such as Hezbullah in Lebanon and Taleban in Afghanistan, the US army said.
