WASHINGTON - Kurdish' factions in northern Iraq have agreed to a ceasefire and will meet a US envoy next month to discuss reconciliation, the State Department said yesterday.

The agreement was reached after US officials held talks with rival Kurdish leaders. The latest round of clashes started last Saturday between the two Kurdish factions which have jointly controlled northern Iraq in defiance of Baghdad since 1991.
