Diyarbakir - A Turkish army commander said yesterday that the army had militarily crushed the separatist Kurdish rebellion, and pledged a reduction in troop levels in the country's troubled south-east in the years ahead.

Army officials have also launched a social and medical aid campaign on behalf of Kurdish civilians .
