Ljubljana - The Slovene President, Mr Milan Kucan, swept to victory yesterday in the first round of presidential elections. The national electoral commission said that, with 99.09 per cent of the vote counted, Mr Kucan had 55.63 per cent, while his nearest rival, parliament speaker Mr Janez Podobnik, had 18.41 per cent.
