Kohl uses red scare tactic

Bremen - Dr Helmut Kohl sent his Christian Democrats (CDU) onto the campaign trail yesterday with the message that the opposition Social Democrats (SPD) would turn Germany sharp left. "The politics of the centre or a leftist republic," Dr Kohl said was the choice facing voters on September 27th. "We have to do everything to stop people like these winning the election," Dr Kohl said in a closing speech to a two-day CDU election conference.
